The Asian Youth Champiionships was held for the first time in Beijing, China. A record number of 428 chess players from 20 Asian countries are seeing action in the Under-8, 10, 12, 14, 16 an 18 age groups for boys and girls, and two categories of Challengers Championships. The large delegations are from India with 56 layers, China 44, Vietnam 34, Iran 33 and Mongalia 29. There are 3 individual gold medal winners in G-14,U-14 and G-18 section
