The biggest prize money tournament in the history of Nepal Chess is hosted recently in Lalitpur, Katmandu.
The NR 175000, tournament is organized by the Lalitpur sports club, in association with the District Chess Association, Lalitpur, under the supervision of Nepal Chess Association.

The said tournament is held from 11th to 17th July at the International Swimming Complex, Satdobato, Lalitpur, Katmandu.
IM Saptarshi Roy won the tournament scoring 8 points out of a possible 10. Trailokya Nanda from Assam came after him, also scoring 8 points.
In total a 110 players competed among themselves in this mega event, of which, 2 were from Bangladesh, 26 from India, and the rest 82 from Nepal.

Tough competition among the participants made it a memorable event in the history of Nepal chess.
IA Dharmendra Kumar led the arbiter’s team, along with other local Arbiters.
The chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony was Mr. Dhurba B Pradhan, President, Nepal Olympic Committee.

Mr. Rajesh Hari Joshi, president, Nepal Chess Association, promised to organize some more mega events like this in the near future, including some Norm tournaments.
